EXTREME

This man stands apart not to the back not to the front.

Not seen nor is he hidden

and his glance though fleeting is not without reason

for he is seeking your intent. 

And as you are drawn to this hypnotic charm 

you won’t quite know what to make of him.

For he has no time for riddles and rhyme

and his words will not be suppressed.

For only those who understand and accept nothing less

than to say what is meant and mean what is said;

could withstand the onslaught. 

And as you partake in conversation engaging

he’s peering below the surface

for he chooses his friends and confidantes carefully.

The gift of perception his weapon.

So don’t try to stand eye to eye with this man

if falsehood be your purpose

for he’ll find the deceit and the sting in defence

will leave no pride to recover. 

But if you take time to understand this mind

you will find sensitivity with no measure.

For he’s pure of heart and truly benign

and it’s this that must be protected
