It’s been a long time since you came to mind.....

did you see me under the ebony sky

I watched you from the shadows with pride

were you lonely amongst the crowd

did you hunger to be known

Nightingale I still remembered your song

long after the crowds had gone

fame and fortune had its way with you and me ...

Did you see me in the light of day

when I ran to catch your faster pace

I'd reach out to take your hand

then turn my head to look behind

just to see your shadow walk with mine

we were the same you and me

and I didn’t notice what you weren’t giving

the legacy you left me is still living

it fills me with imaging still

                                                            Nightingale it’s alright

                                                            you gave me all you had

                                                            it’s been a long time since you came to mind…….
